Pair of incredibly tough 1948-49 Caramelos El Indio Cuban League caramel cards including Negro League and early 1950's New York Giants 3rd baseman Hank Thompson. Thompson was a star with the Kansas City Monarchs before joining the St. Louis Browns in 1947. He would set a number of firsts as an African-American in the major leagues - 1st black player on St. Louis Browns 1st on New York Giants along with Monte Irvin 1st to play in both American and National Leagues part of 1st black outfield(with Mays & Irvin) first black batter to face black pitcher(Newcombe) and several others. Despite lowest grade cards still retain some eye appeal. Both have a vertical crease that does not break the front paper surface. About G corners. Facial images good. Backs do have some scattered product staining with a name written on each. The only cards from this rare issue ever graded by PSA
