The 1947 Yankees led by Joe DiMaggio and Phil Rizzuto set the franchise back on course to their pre-war winning ways. They won the pennant with a decent pitching rotation that included Vic Raschi who won 21 games and Allie Reynolds who picked up 17 wins during the season. A collision course was set for the battle of New York between the Yankees and Dodgers after the Yankees narrowly defeated their Red Sox rivals in the American League Championship. Jackie Robinson's World Series debut was hard fought but eventually the Yankees came out on top, winning the series in a decisive seventh game.
Offered is a 1947 New York Yankees Championship ring made by Dieges & Clust. The 14 karat gold relic has a large diamond centered on a baseball diamond shape with leaves surrounding the inside. "NEW YORK YANKEES WORLD CHAMPIONS surrounds the oval shaped top and each shank has a soaring bald eagle logo with "1947" in raised relief below and "NEW YORK" in banner form above. The ring was originally awarded to long time chief scout Paul Krichell and his name is engraved on the inside band along with "D&C 14K." The ring weighs about 27.85 grams and it has been resized to 12 from its original size of 10 ¼. The ring is in overall good condition and is accompanied by a full LOA from PSA (AH03555).
The ring is also accompanied by a full 1947 World Series Program. The '47 series has some significant historical context in that it was the first series that was racially integrated. It was also Jackie Robinson's first year and the program features several photographs and player biographies including Robinson's. The program is in good overall condition with a few loose pages throughout. A nice addition to this amazing championship ring.
