Presented here is the contract of one Joseph Paul DiMaggio enlisting his services with the New York Yankees for the 1946 season. DiMaggios original Yankees players contract calls for the Clipper to be paid a salary of $43750 the exact same amount that the club had paid him in 1942 before he left the team to join the Army during World War II. Not too shabby by the modest wartime standards of the day and certainly it looks pretty good alongside his princely remuneration from the U.S. Army of $50 per month but still a debatable tally for arguably the greatest player in the game. DiMaggio would eventually reach a $100000 sum three years later an imposing milestone that he would reside at for two seasons before the club nudged him back to $90000 for his final year in 1951. The condition of the four-page contract is nothing short of superb perhaps Ex-Mt with not a discouraging word to be uttered in any direction. A blazing DiMaggio autograph appears on the second page directly below that of Yankees President Larry MacPhail a fellow Hall of Famer.
