Coached by the legendary Curly Lambeau the 1946 Green Bay Packers ended the 1946 NFL season with a record of 6 wins and 5 losses finishing third in the West Division. Though the 1946 Packers were unable to regain their championship form they had displayed two seasons earlier their roster remained largely unchanged from those glory days. One notable exception was the addition of superstar halfback Bruce Smith winner of the 1941 Heisman Trophy.

Presented here is a rare and beautifully preserved football signed by the 1946 Green Bay Packers. Featured among the thirty-two black fountain pen autographs applied to this Official NFL (Bell) football (averaging 9/10) are some of the scarcest and most coveted autographs in football. Among the most notable is the aforementioned Bruce Smith a signature rarely seen applied to NFL horsehide. An equally scarce autograph from Curly Lambeau universally considered the most significant figure in Green Bay Packers history is also present in spectacular form. Perhaps the rarest autograph of the bunch however is that of Walt Kiesling a man who would join inaugural HOF inductee Lambeau into Canton in 1966. Lambeau and Kiesling are counted among the NFL All-Decade Team for the 1920's joined by the likes of Red Grange Ernie Nevers and Jim Thorpe. Other notable signers include Don Hutson Tony Canadeo Baby Ray Irv Comp Charlie Brock Ted Fritsch and Larry Craig. The ball has been fitted with a new bladder and lacing but is otherwise original and unrestored. Given the rarity of its signature selection and remarkable overall condition this ranks among the finest autographed footballs we've seen from the first half of the 20th century. Full LOAs from PSA/DNA and JSA.
