Featured here is an Original Dieges & Clust artwork for the 1946 Brooklyn Dodgers "Phantom" press pin. The lot includes the original company order form for the pin. Over several years, teams that were involved in close pennant races were forced to order a supply of World Series press pins prior to the league champion being determined. The supplier needed a certain amount of time to manufacture and deliver the pins and needed additional time to do so. Much to the chagrin of the Brooklyn Dodgers, they ended up being stuck with a large supply of the 1946 World Series pins after the club lost to the St. Louis Cardinals down the stretch. The 1946 Brooklyn Dodgers artwork is executed in mixed media on paper (3x4.25 inches), features two different designs for the pin with the top design being selected by the club (the bottom design is crossed out in pencil). The artwork is housed in its original Dieges & Clust fold-over portfolio (4.5x6 inches). The original Dieges & Clust order form for the press pin is dated 9/7/1946. The form notes the number of press pins ordered, the color scheme and other various production specs. The order form measures out to 7.5 x 5.5 inches and is in VG condition in our opinion.
