This remarkable full uniform was worn by Augie Galan a three-time National League All-Star during the Depression and World War II during his final season with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1946. A left fielder his career lasted from 1934-49 including stints with the Cubs (193441) Dodgers (194146) Reds (194748) New York Giants (1949) and Philadelphia Athletics (1949). In 16 seasons Galan posted a .287 batting average with 100 home runs and 830 RBI in 1742 games played. This jersey pants and stirrup socks are from that final campaign with the Dodgers when he batted .310 and logged three home runs and 38 RBI's. A "Spalding" manufacturer's label is sewn to the back of the collar directly above a wash instruction tag and a flap tag with Size 42 adjacent . Below this is a white felt patch with "A; Galan" embroidered in Dodger blue chain stitch. On the front left tail ""46" appears in chain stitching. "Dodgers" appears across the front of the jersey in the famous script lettering and Galan's No. 24 on the back; both the team name and number are in Dodger blue felt. The shirt exhibits quite a bit of game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. The pants show a similar level of game use with no difficulties save only buttons missing from rear pockets and minor team repair on the left leg. the Spalding manufacturer's label appears on the waistband below a washing instructions small tag and with "Size 36" adjacent flap tag; a white felt tag to the left has "A. Galan" embroidered in blue stitching. A "24" appears nearby in handwritten black marker. Dodger blue stirrup socks are in wonderful condition as well.

Includes a Letter of Provenance from The Newport Sports Museum.
