1943 St. Louis Browns home jersey game worn by pitcher Denny Galehouse who played for the team from 1941 through 1947. Galehouse was a solid starter during his time with the Browns and a member of the Browns' one-and-only pennant-winning ball club in 1944. In 1943 Galehouse went 11-11 with a 2.77 ERA in 31 games for the Browns. In the American League pennant winning season of 1944 he went 9-10 with a 3.12 ERA in 24 games and started 2 contests in the World Series against the Cardinals going 1-1 with a 1.5 ERA. Beautiful condition wool zippered garment boasts the famed BROWNS text across the chest in brown-on-orange felt. Galehouse's No. 22 appears on the back in the same brown-on-orange felt. Orange and brown piping on the collar button path and sleeves. Red white and blue wartime Health patch sewn on left sleeve. Rawlings St. Louis manufacturers label and Size 44 tags sewn in back of collar. "Galehouse" and "43" are elegantly stitched in brown on the front left tail. There are eight holes (as tailored) under each arm to give the wool jersey ventilation. Totally originally jersey displays moderate game use with some light stains on the right sleeve. Awesome and rare jersey from the fabled St. Louis Browns!
