This wonderful correspondence comes on original St. Louis Cardinals stationary, with a really cool Cardinals baseball logo on the back of the envelope. The original negative of Slaughter in military uniform (from the Enos Slaughter collection) is included in a smaller envelope. The letter is from famed baseball executive Branch Rickey, then General Manager of the Cards, and just a few short years away from changing history when as a Dodgers executive he signed Jackie Robinson.
