Former World Heavyweight Champion Joe Louis was one of boxing greatest pugilists ever. The Brown Bomber as he was often called reigned as the world champion from 1937 to 49 and compiled an unheard of overall record of 66-3 during his tenure with 52 of his victories coming by way of knockout. This lot includes a pair of unusual Joe Louis-themed pieces. The first is a Bronze United self-starting electric clock that shows the upper torso of Louis atop the clock with a decorative wreath compete with a pair of boxing gloves carved out around the base. Near the bottom of the base just below the actual clock is a special moniker that reads: Joe Louis World Champion. The bronze clock measures 12.5 high by 8.5 wide. The second item is a painted ceramic bust of Louis that measures 7 high by 4 wide. JOE LOUIS is spelled out across the bottom of the bust which looks as though it is written across the top of his trunks. An interesting combination of collectibles paying tribute the famous Brown Bomber.
