Californian Alice Marble was a former World No. 1-ranked American tennis player who won 18 Grand Slam championships from 1936 to 40 including five Singles titles six in Women's Doubles and seven in Mixed Doubles. This lot features the Womens National Singles Championship Trophy that was presented to Marble in 1939 by the United States Lane Tennis Association. The two-handled sterling silver trophy measures 14 tall and is engraved with the event the year and WON BY MISS ALICE MARBLE. Beautifully designed with a decorative motif around its edges the impressive trophy commemorates just one of Marbles five singles crowns.
