This 1938 Brooklyn Dodgers team ball carries 25 total signatures — most remarkably including Babe Ruth, who served as the team's first base coach that season. Ruth's presence in Flatbush was brief but legendary, and his signature here, appearing prominently on a panel of the Official National League (Frick) Spalding ball, represents one of the most coveted autographs in the hobby. The Sultan of Swat's large signature in blue ink (6.5/10 strength) dominates its panel even through the aged leather.
Additional signatories include a luster of Dodger names from the late 1930's, highlighted by Hall of Famers Leo Durocher, then a 32-year-old shortstop, and Kiki Cuyler in his final MLB season. Other notables include Fred Frankhouse, Lee Rogers, Buddy Hassett, Freddie Fitzsimmons, Ray Hayworth, Fred Sington, Goody Rosen, and Ernie Koy to name a few. The ball's surface exhibits genuine vintage toning and handling consistent with nearly 90 years of age. It has been in the same family's possession for generations, starting with an adolescent fan in Brooklyn who loved the Dodgers. Please note: there is a small puncture hole on the ONL (Frick) label. Accompanied by a JSA letter of authenticity.
