Undefeated TCU (10-0) beat once beaten Carnegie tech (7-1) 15-7 in the 5th annual 1939 Sugar Bowl. Key players for the Horned Frogs that year were Heisman Trophy winning quarterbackDavey O'Brien along with fellow first round NFL picks - center Ki Aldrich (#1 overall) and tackle I. B. Hale. The offered items celebrate that outstanding year.
1) Texas Christian University Football Champions of 1938 publication. Full review of the famed 1938 season from game 1 all the way through the regular season.All players are profiled and every game detailed. Includes a full page covering Davey O'Brien winning the Heisman trophy. Final page reads "Sugar Bowl Here We Come". Loaded with pictures stats and information. NM+ or better condition.
2) 1/2/39 Sugar Bowl Program - Very clean looking condition. Would be EX-MT+ EXCEPT for a strip of about 1/2" masking tape reinforcing the spine.
3) Lot of 4 1938-39 TCU Football pins - Round blue and white 1 1/4" T. C. U. pin with small 3/4" football hanging below; larger Blue and white1 3/4" pin featuring horned frog wearing TCU sweater carrying football with 1" football on ribbon below; 7/8" "39" pin; 1 3/4" purple and white "The Sugar BowlT. C. U. New Orleans 1939 pin with 1" football and pairs of ribbons below. All in very nice condition.
4)) 1939 TCU "The Horned Frog" yearbook - unsigned in EX-MT condition.
