Original vintage program issued for the 1937 World Series match up between the New York Yankees and the New York Giants bears fourteen signatures on the interior pages and cover in pencil. Most signatures appear next to the players photo on the inside team biography pages including Lou Gehrig Monte Pearson Left Gomez Myril Hoag Pat Malone Charles Ruffing George Selkirk Art Jorgens and Don Heffner. Giants signatures include Wm. H. (Bill) Terry Harry Danning Gus Mancuso.All the pencil signatures are strong 8-9/10 in quality and appearance. Interestingly the cover has also been signed in pencil by Yankee Pat Malone as well as Boxing legend Jimmy Braddock (Cinderella Man). On the evening of June 13th 1935 at Madison Square Garden Braddock a ten-to-one underdog entered the ring to face Max Baer. In an amazing feat of courage and determination Braddock won the 15 round decision to become the new heavyweight champion of the world and the inspiration of depression-era sports fans. The program remains in very good condition with a light vertical fold scattered wear and soiling to covers. The interior is partially scored and the first inside page bears four ballpoint notations. The 1937 World Series featured the defending champion New York Yankees and the New York Giants in a rematch of the 1936 Series. The Yankees won the series in five games for their second championship in a row and their sixth in fifteen years. This was their sixth world title breaking a tie they shared with the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Athletics for most championships (five each).
