This 1936 Berlin Olympics participation medal presents in NM-MT condition. Made of pure bronze they come in four different colors and this one is of the greenish-brown variety. The obverse depicts an artistic layer of five athletes representing the five continents pulling the ropes of the Olympic Bell etched with "XI OLYMPIADE BERLIN 1936". The reverse shows the Olympic bell embossed with the German Eagle. The name of the designer "Otto Placzek" is etched on the reverse at lower right. "GUSS - H.NOACK - BERLIN" is etched on the rim to pay homage to one of the four production foundries that minted these medals. Weight is 114 grams diameter is 70mm and thickness is 7mm. 3980 athletes participated. Includes original red presentation case that has been damages with cuts and rips.
