Ken Strong is one of the most decorated players in the 1935 National Chicle Football set, and his card is among the most popular in this landmark issue. As the first major gum card set devoted to professional football, National Chicle's 36 cards capture the stars of the NFL's early years, with each reverse featuring playing tips from Boston Redskins coach Eddie Casey.

Strong was a triple-threat back who could run, pass and kick. A star at New York University, he joined the New York Giants and delivered one of the great performances in championship history in the famous 1934 "Sneakers Game," scoring 17 points as the Giants overcame the Chicago Bears on an icy Polo Grounds field. Strong was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1957 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1967.

The front of card #7 shows Strong in his blue #50 Giants jersey, leg extended high in a follow-through after a kick, with a teammate approaching from behind against a bright yellow and red background. The reverse discusses the art of kicking, advising young players to "specialize in one type of kicking," and lists Strong as an "All League Half back 1934."

Although graded PR 1, this example offers surprising eye appeal, with strong color and a clear image. The grade reflects wear to the corners and edges, while the reverse remains clean and fully legible. An affordable example of a Pro Football Hall of Famer from the first great football set. Graded PR 1 by PSA.
