Offered is a 1934 Goudey #61 Lou Gehrig graded PSA FR 1.5 (PSA cert. #175227128). As one of only two Gehrig cards in the 1934 Goudey set, this is a key card from one of the most attractive issues of the pre-war era, and it arrives from the very season in which Gehrig captured the American League Triple Crown.

The 1934 Goudey set is distinguished by its "says..." design, in which a small headshot of a featured star appears in the lower corner above a script banner. On this card, Gehrig himself is the featured star, pictured in a classic batting pose in his Yankees pinstripes and navy cap against a green background with blue silhouetted figures. The lower-left inset portrait of a smiling Gehrig and the script "Lou Gehrig says..." banner complete the design.

The reverse carries a message from Gehrig encouraging young fans to join the Knot Hole League of America, offering to answer letters from members and closing with a facsimile signature, "By arrangement with Christy Walsh," his business manager.

This example grades FR 1.5 but displays strong visual appeal, with bright colors, a clean portrait and an unobstructed image. Wear is consistent with the grade, including rounded corners and light surface wear, while the reverse text remains fully legible. Gehrig's 1934 Triple Crown campaign, in which he hit .363 with 49 home runs and 166 RBI, remains one of the great seasons in baseball history. This is a desirable example of a classic pre-war Gehrig card.
