The 1933 Philadelphia Athletics finished 3rd in the AL with a record of 79-72. Jimmy Foxx won his second AL MVP award making him the first MLB player ever to do so. He hit .356 with 48 Home Runs and 204 hits a feat even today that would be near impossible. This OAL (Barnard) baseball is signed by 15 members of the 1933 Philadelphia Athletics and retains many of the Stars before Connie Mack completed his fire sale that would deplete the franchise for decades. Key signatures include: Left Grove HOF (Sweet Spot) (24-8 Record) Mickey Cochrane (HOF) Connie Mack (HOF) George Earnshaw “Sugar” Cain Lena Blackburn (Coach) Bing Miller Roger Cramer and Owner Thomas Shibe (Scarce: Not usually seen). Also a beautiful large sweeping cursive signature (9/10) of “Jimmy Foxx” (HOF) across a side panel. The baseball has darkened due to a light coat of shellac that was applied at the time. The coating has however preserved the autographs in bold black condition with all HOF’s grading a “9”.
