The 1933 Goudey set stands as the most iconic baseball card issue of the pre-war era, and no card in the set commands more attention than the Babe Ruth quartet — cards #53, #144, #149, and #181.

 

Presented here is the #53 Ruth, depicting George Herman "Babe" Ruth of the New York Yankees in his classic batting-ready pose against a yellow background, with "Big League Chewing Gum" branding across the bottom. The reverse provides a compelling biographical narrative noting Ruth's 60 home runs in 1927 and his career as both a dominant pitcher and a record-setting slugger.
