Presented here is a spectacular high-grade example of Babe Ruth's #144 card from the revered 1933 Goudey issue. Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA, it displays nearly perfect centering with pinpoint resolution and bright colors. Print is bold (front & back), edges are straight as an arrow, borders remain a clean off-white, and the surface is remarkably smooth for a card nearing its centennial birthday. The only blemish keeping it from an even better rating is the top right corner. In PSA’s population report, only five #144 Ruth issues have been graded higher (one 8.5 and four 9s) out of 1,705 total graded in the authenticator’s history (as of this writing). The consignor has owned this card for well over a decade and seen its rise from around $15K in 2010 to $50K pre-COVID to now approaching mid six figures.
