The late Bill Miller was an American pole vaulter who won a gold medal at the 1932 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. At the U.S. Olympic trials that year he actually finished second (4.30 meters) behind teammate Bill Graber who set a new world record at 4.37 meters. Graber however failed to clear 4.25 meters at the Olympic Games while Miller set his all-time personal best at 4.31 meters and won the gold in a very close competition with Japan’s Shuhei Nishida. Miller passed away in 2008 at the age of 96.This lot features a 1932 Los Angeles Olympic Games Men’s Pole Vault 1st Place diploma that was presented to Miller.
