Despite winning 94 games, the 1931 Yankees came up just short in the American League to the Philadelphia Athletics.
(17) members of this legendary ballclub have inked this team Reach Official League Ball, including icons Babe Ruth on the sweet spot, and Lou Gehrig, prominent on the east panel. Other Hall of Famers who have signed are Bill Dickey, Tony Lazzeri, Red Ruffing and Earle Combs.
Above Ruth's sweet spot signature is the added notation "Aug 12, 1931", which coincides with a double header against the Cleveland Indians. For theose of you scoring at home, the Yankees split the twin bill.
The ball is fairly clean with the signatures showing some fading, but are almost all legible and rating a 2-5/10, with Ruth & Gehrig at 3/10. Not bad for a ball being 90+ years old!
