1930's House of David Baseball wool team jacket worn by a player named H. L. Dalager. The House of David was a famous barnstorming baseball team which toured rural America from the 1920s through the 1950s playing both amateur and semi-pro teams in exhibition games. Needing more skilled players the House began hiring professionals in the late 1920's. Hall of Fame pitchers Grover Cleveland Alexander Satchel Paige and Mordecai Brown were some of the more famous professionals to play with the team. Some pros would grow their own beards while others would wear false beards. As years went by the House of David played against major league minor league and Negro League teams. Heavy red and blue wool jacket has "HD" felt logo sewn on left breast. Collar waistband and wristbands are red-gold knit. Slit pockets have red leather trim. All buttons original. "H. L. Dalager" tag sewn inside back tail. A. G. Spalding and All-Wool tags sewn inside coat. Professionally repair done to center back of coat. Hole under left arm pit. In great condition for it's age. Outstanding piece of little know baseball history!

Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Helms Athletic Foundation/LA84 Collection.
