This would be neat complement to the adjacent lot that features a handwritten letter where Eddie Collins asks Charlies Comiskey for a salary of $17500 per season for two years. This intriguing letter on official Chicago White Sox stationery is obviously not in response to Collins' letter (this letter is dated roughly three years hence) but the officious nature of the missive seems almost brutal in its brevity. Presumably not trying to be ironic Comiskey refers to the Hall of Famer in the salutation as "Friend Collins" and then rather abruptly informs him of his Unconditional Release. The 8 1/2-by-11-inch letter is in Ex-Mt condition with elegant gold-red-and-blue White Sox logo atop the letterhead and a black fountain pen signature of Comiskey included just after his kindest regards. Fortunately he resisted the impulse to get too sentimental about the whole thing: there's also an enclosure with the letter the actual 6-by-4-inch official certificate denoting the Unconditional Release also in Ex-Mt condition. It is dated the day before (Nov. 26 1926) and has Comiskey's stamped signature.
