Many teams have dominated their respective leagues over the course of baseball history but few have been able to totally demoralize their competition like the Yankees did in 1927. Their lineup appropriately dubbed "Murderer's Row" featured five .300 hitters. Among their ranks were the league leaders in virtually every offensive category. As a team the Bronx Bombers totaled over 100 more home runs than any other team and posted league highs with a .307 batting average and an amazing .489 slugging percentage. Their sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1927 World Series represented the culmination of the most prolific season played by any team in baseball history.

This 9-3/4" x 23-3/4" spring-training panorama is a stunning tribute to baseball's most illustrious squad and that most gilded year 1927. Among the 36 men depicted the eye is drawn instantly to the leftward section of the back row where luminaries Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig stand shoulder to shoulder. Yankee owner Jacob Ruppert stands front and center above the seated Miller Huggins and the photo also features Tony Lazzeri Earle Combs Waite Hoyt and Herb Pennock. Intriguingly many of the players are holding or wearing their gloves which provides a nice array of period equipment. The white-lettered captioning and copyright mark read "New York Yankees 1927 - St. Petersburg Florida - Burgert Bros. Co. St. Petersburg." In the upper-right corner two minor edge tears have been professionally sealed. The remainder of the lovely silver-gelatin surface bears only the occasional tiny faint blemish here and there. Nothing substantial and nothing that could outdo the framed panorama's sensational eye appeal or its historical grandeur.

Includes a LOA from PSA/DNA (Type 1).
