This 1927 photograph has it all: an original Type 1 photograph by legendary photographer Charles M. Conlon of baseball’s greatest right-handed hitter, Rogers Hornsby. What’s more, Conlon captured the great hitter in action at the plate in this perfectly composed image that was later used for Hornsby’s 1931 W517 baseball card. The white borders are slightly rounded, and the print has acquired a nice warm sepia tone from age. The reverse has “Rogers Hornsby” and “Conlon” handwritten in pencil. A tremendous portrait of Hornsby in his prime by the dean of baseball photographers. The photo has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA and graded Type 1 Authentic.
