Harold Edward "Red" Grange nicknamed "The Galloping Ghost was a college and professional football halfback who played for the University of Illinois the Chicago Bears and for the short-lived New York Yankees football team during the 1920s and early 30s. His signing with the Bears actually helped legitimize the early days of the National Football League. This lot includes a specially framed collage of press clippings from back in the day when Grange was playing for the Fighting Illini where he was a consensus All-America pick and for the New York Yankees an ill-fated American Football League team that played its home games at Yankee Stadium from 1926 to 29. The collage of press clippings includes an official game program from 1927 between the Red Grange-led New York Yankees and the Brick Muller-led Los Angeles Californians. The game took place at Wrigley Field on Sunday January 27th and the price of the program was just 10 cents. Grange signed the program in black marker across the front cover: Red Grange. The signature is solid and rates 8/10.
