Thomas Shibe (1966-1936) was the son of Benjamin Shibe who along with Connie Mack founded the Philadelphia Athletics baseball club in 1901. Instrumental in helping form the American League and dividing Major League Baseball into two leagues in 1901 Thomas took over as president of the A's after his father's death in 1922. In his earlier years Thomas was a partner with the highly successful sporting goods company A.J. Reach and a driving force in the manufacturing of baseballs and baseball equipment. In fact Thomas invented much of the machinery used to produce baseballs for the professional leagues while serving as plant supervisor. For several decades his familys namesake adorned Shibe Park in Philadelphia home to the As and Phillies from 1909-1970. Connie Mack bought controlling interest in the Athletics upon Thomas Shibes death in 1936. His importance in Major League baseball cannot be overstated.

This original 8.5 x 11 two-page document dated September 14 1925 includes the minutes from the A.J. Reach board of directors meeting held on October 6 of that year signed beautifully in perfect 10/10 looking steel tip pen black ink by company secretary Thomas Shibe. A correction is also made on the document in black ink ("999" votes instead of 1000). Very rare and historical it is in exceptional condition for its age. Almost no tears wrinkles or creases visible.
