In a turn of events that surprised hardly anyone, the Polo Grounds was the site of a National League pennant victory this season. One fortunate spectator was granted complimentary admission to witness a team brimming with Hall of Famers, including Kelly, Frisch, Bancroft, Youngs, Jackson, Stengel, Wilson, and Terry. All it took was the presentation of this badge to the individual manning the turnstile at this esteemed baseball venue in uptown Manhattan.
The front of the badge proclaims, "Giants, World Champions, 1921-1922, Chas.H. Stoneham," while the reverse side is engraved with the serial number "162," the name of the recipient "James Wakely" and the year "1923." The manufacturer's imprint, "Lambert Bros, Sterling," is located on the bottom of the reverse side. Despite minimal edge wear, the overall near-mint condition of the badge is undeniable. The blue enamel on the front, which has a tendency to wear off over time, remains strong and clearly legible.
