This offering includes an enormous 35.5 x 19.5" large format photograph of the 1921 New York Yankees. Capturing 28 members of the American League champs on the field of the Polo Grounds, this breathtaking piece is impressive. Among the players pictured are Babe Ruth, manager Miller Huggins, Frank Baker, Waite Hoyt, Roger Peckinpaugh, Bob Meusel and Carl Mays.  Appearing along the base is, "American League 1921 Champions" in a white letter caption.  The size and rarity of this piece are related to it's provenance. This amazing piece was originally displayed in the old Yankee Stadium and is one of a number of similar size Yankees team panoramas that entered the hobby in 1973 during the stadium's renovation. This is one of the earliest Yankee team panoramas that we've been priveleged to handle and the 1921 team was truly special as it marks the first year the team won the AL championship and appeared in the World Series. Led by Ruth's whopping 59 home runs that season, the team was beginning to jump on his back and go on a ride that would lead to historic success for years to come. Unfortunately for the Bambino and the rest of the pinstriped heroes, the cross town rival, Giants would prove too much to handle during the series that year.  The photo appears to be dry mounted to a wood backing (common for most of the team panoramas that originate from Yankee Stadium), remains housed in its original frame. There are a few small tears along the bottom border where the photo had adhered to the glass at some point in time but the remainder of the photo displays in extremely good condition with light surface wear and an overall EX appearance.
