Ty Cobb "The Georgia Peach" was the premiere player of his generation and one of the greatest players ever to play the game. During his long 24 year career Cobb set 90 Major League Baseball records and still holds top spot with a .367 lifetime batting average. Aside from his first season when he only played 41 games Cobb never hit less than .320 the next 23 years of his career from 1906 thru 1928. Three times he topped the .400 mark. Eleven times he won the American League Batting title. Playing during the dead-ball era Cobb led the American League in home runs in 1909 with 9 all inside-the-park and became the only modern era player to lead in that statistic without hitting one ball outside the park. Cobb was known for his aggressive playing style and made few friends during his playing days. Cobb was also a shrewd businessman who retired a millionaire. In his later life he was very generous with his wealth building a hospital in his hometown setting up an educational fund for needy Georgia students and helping out former ballplayers in need.

Presented here is a 1921-26 Ty Cobb Louisville Slugger game used bat used during the era Cobb was putting the finishing touches on his unrivaled career batting records. during the final seasons with the Detroit Tigers. With perfect dimensions high quality wood and a desirable era of issuance this Cobb bat has many ideal traits valued by astute game used bat collectors. Crafted of the finest quality ash suitable to Cobbs high standards this 34 inch 38 ounce club is consistent with Cobbs personal H&B factory records which record him ordering bats from 38-41 ounces. The bat exhibits heavy signs of use with stitch marks light cleat marks and a small area of dead wood on the front of the barrel. The handle remains uncracked. MEARS has assigned the bat an overall grade of A7.5 based on 5 points for matching known player factory records 3 points for heavy game use and a 1/2 point detraction for a light Cobb stamp on the barrel. A bat used by the great Ty Cobb is a treasure in any form. The offered example is a quality specimen evoking images of baseball's dark knight ready to launch his assault on an opposing pitcher. LOA from MEARS (Graded A7.5).
