Rare and remarkable 1920-22 New York Yankees and Giants photograph archive (62 total) with (26) showing Babe Ruth. Collection of (62) 3.25"x6.5" snapshots taken at the Polo Grounds between 1920 and 1922 offer an outstanding photographic reference of games played at the famed venue. The images were taken from several different vantages within the stadium and while all are visually appealing there are a number which are particularly striking. There are a total of (26) which feature Babe Ruth (at the plate, rounding bases, and in the field) and numerous others with notable subjects. As captioned/identified below the individual images, some of the more prominent include images of Babe Ruth on 9/24/20 when the Yankees played a doubleheader vs. Washington. Ruth hit his 50th and 51st homeruns of the season that day in the back to back games. One is captioned as showing him hitting his 51st along with photos of him rounding third and crossing home. He can be seen in two others rounding third base and then crossing home after hitting his 50th homerun; Ruth taking batting practice before the October 5, 1922 World Series Game 2; images of Carl Mays pitching and at bat on 9/24 (just over a month after the Ray Chapman incident); images from the 9/18/21 Tigers vs. Yankees game captioned as showing Cobb, Speaker, Heilmann, and Ruth; and others identified as showing Joe Sewell, Tris Speaker, Waite Hoyt, Bill Wambsganss, Dave Bancroft, Edd Roush, Frank Frisch, and Heinie Groh. All are mounted to photo album pages and remain well preserved with the photos themselves showing some toning and little other mentionable wear. The back of each page is blank meaning that all could be separated with no damage to the other pieces. One of the more extensive assemblages of period photography in existence.
