Incredible July 14 1919 Chicago White Sox payroll check from the controversial 1919 season made out to Black Sox pitcher Ed Cicotte. Cicotte one of the few involved in the plan to throw the World Series who received all the $10000 promised was on the mound for the opening game. With his first pitch he hit lead-off hitter Morrie Rath to let the gamblers know that the fix was in. He left the game after 3 2/3 innings with the Reds safely ahead by a score of 6-1. Game 4 his 2nd start saw the White Sox lose 2-0 with both runs coming on Cicotte errors in the 5th. When some of the players had not been paid the full amount promised Cicotte scattered 7 hits in beating the Reds 4-1 in Game 7 his only win in the Series. Hall of Fame White Sox owner Charles Comiskey has signed the check with a perfect 9/10 looking vintage black steel tip pen signature. Cicotte has endorsed the check on the back with another perfect 9/10 looking vintage black steel tip pen signature. Check itself in eye appealing condition with just the usual folds and 4 staple holes at the left side that do not come in contact with either signature. Awesome check from the 1919 season signed by two of the most prominent men involved in the 1919 World Series scandal.
