Until November 3rd of this year Frank “Wildfire” Schulte was the answer to the tough trivia question “Who was the Cubs starting right fielder the last time they won the World Series?” Wildfire Schulte was the Cubbies right fielder through 12 seasons and two World Championships before moving on to Pirates Phillies and Senators. He also won the 1911 Chalmers Award the fore-runner of the modern MVP Award. He owns a lifetime .270 batting average and hit a rarefied (for the Deadfall Era) 92 career home runs. This Hillerich & Bradsby Frank Schulte professional model bat bears the center brand style used from 1916 to 1919. The side-written bat was game used cracked and returned to the Louisville factory for duplicates.

The pencil notation on its side reads “39oz Orlando BBC  3 29 22” meaning Schulte sent this bat to the factory in 1922 for copies. 1922 was Wildfire’s last season in the Majors and it is well documented that he was involved with a minor league team in Orlando. The bat displays heavy use with a handle crack. Many ball marks are visible on its barrel and cleat marks are in evidence. “ELK” has been carved into its knob end. A tremendous bat used by one of the Cubs All-Time greatest outfielders. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.

LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA graded GU 8.5
