To suggest that Ty Cobb was at the height of his powers in 1915 would seem like an understatement about a figure whose contributions were rarely understated: his .369 batting average nailed down his ninth American League Batting title in a row and his 96 stolen bases in the heyday of the dead ball era marked his tenacious unforgiving style of play as the prototype for a generation of ballplayers at least for a few more years. Like a handful of the other top-tier Hall of Famers his career could have been divided down the middle with either half worthy of a plaque in Cooperstown. This was Cobbs 11th season as a Detroit Tiger; he would play 11 more years in Detroit before wrapping up his career with two seasons as a member of the Philadelphia Athletics.

This Ty Cobb professional game model Louisville Slugger bat measuring 34 inches and weighing 38 ounces displays an admirable level of game use. The 40K signature model bat features Hillerich & Bradsbys das-dot-dash center brand and adjacent Kork Grip stamping. With the patent date of 1914 on the barrel in addition to photographic evidence and a comparison to other Cobb bats that have entered the hobby MEARS confidently states that Cobb did indeed use the 40K Kork Grip during the 1914-16 era. Its also worth noting that the December 1913 issue of The Sporting News takes note of the fact that the Detroit star has evolved a cork handle for the bat essentially giving Cobb credit for this innovation. The bat shows deeply embedded ball marks stitch marks and cleat marks and matches H&B factory records. The handle shows vestiges of a crisscross taping pattern a distinctive Cobb trademark. A crack to the handle has been professionally repaired.

Comes with a detailed Letter of Authenticity from MEARS (Grade: A7).
