Outstanding 1913 newspaper giveaway "How To Pitch Curves by Mordecai Brown" featuring 7 pitching lessons from the Chicago Cub Hall of Fame right handed pitcher. 16 page 8" by 10 1/2" books are loaded with photos of contemporary players and baseball tips. Each one covers several different topics. A large picture of Brown in action dominates the front cover. All display very nicely with great color from the front. Condition probably averages about EX overall. The only common distraction is that all were folded down the center at one time(original mailing?) resulting in some paper loss toning along the center of the back cover and small tears to top and bottom of back cover. Once again covers display nicely. Inside pages are for the most part nice also.
First Lesson - Red Cover. "Introduction to Brown by Frank Chance - The Game of Baseball - How to find your best style of delivery - How to Stand - How to condition the arm". "Received it Oct. 11 1913" in pencil at top front. One page torn.
Second Lesson - Green Cover. #How good control made a pitcher of me" - etc. "Received Nov. 26 1913" in ink on Brown's shoulders. No torn pages.
Third Lesson - Blue Cover. "How to pitch the drop - etc." "Received Nov. 27 1913" in ink on Brown's shoulders. No torn pages.
Fourth Lesson - Yellow Cover. "How to pitch the 'Incurve'" - etc. No torn pages.
Fifth Lesson - Brown Cover. "How to pitch a spit ball" - etc. No torn pages. Newspaper clippings of articles by Chief Bender and Rube Marquard on how to pitch inside.
Sixth Lesson - Purple Cover. "How to pitch the fade away" - etc. No torn pages.
Seventh Lesson - Orange Cover. "How to be a winning pitcher" - etc. "Received it Nov. 6 13" in pencil at top front. No torn pages.
