"Wahoo" Sam Crawford played 19 years in the majors (1899-1902 with Cincinnati; 1903-1917 with Detroit) and retired with a lifetime batting average of .309, hitting a career-best .378 in 1911. This offered Sam Crawford Spalding professional model ash bat (35" and 41 oz.) displays evidence of excellent use with a crack on the upper handle and slight water damage on the top barrel. There are ball contact marks a-plenty on all sides of the barrel. It appears the bat has been refinished, according to PSA/DNA bat expert John Taube. The lower handle is wrapped in 6" of black tape. Stamped on the bottom of the knob is the familiar Spalding Trademark. Actual game use by Crawford cannot be confirmed as these Crawford Autograph models were made available by Spalding up until five years after his Hall of Fame career ended (see Spalding catalog message on authentication letter). Nonetheless, it remains a fine, century-old bat with possible use by one of baseballs greatest hitters in the early 1900's. Includes full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA with a GU 6 grade.
