Great looking partial ticket to the final game of the 1911 World Series between the Philadelphia Athletics and the New York Giants held at Shibe Park in Philadelphia on October 26. 1911 saw the Athletics avenge their 1905 World Series loss to the Giants by taking the New Yorkers 4 games to 2. In the deciding Game 6 Hall of Fame pitcher Chief Bender pitched a 4 hitter in winning his 2nd game of the Series a 13-2 route of New York. This went against the way the Series was going as each of the first 5 games were pitching duels with only a total of 25 runs scored by both teams. In pencil to the side of the ticket has been written "Last Game Athletics x New York 10/26/11 Score A = 13 N. Y. = 2". Partial ticket consists of stub and detached rain check 4 3/8" long. Both in great shape with slight crease at lower left corner. Both are still glued to a 3" by 6 1/2" piece of white album paper. About 40% has come unglued at the left side with a 3/4" strip of staining to left back and a 1/2" by 1 1/4" patch of excess white paper on top of this but very little paper damage to the ticket back itself. There is a 1 1/2" tear to the white backing paper that does not touch the ticket. Ticket appears to be a great candidate for professional removal from the back paper.
