Larry Doyle starred for the Giants and (briefly) the Chicago Cubs over a 14-year career in which he led New York to three straight pennants and won the Chalmers Award (the predecessor to the MVP laurel) in 1912. For his career Doyle stole 298 bases and launched 74 home runs"”a rather impressive total for players in the deadball era.

This outstanding J.F. Hillerich & Son Co. Louisville Slugger dash-dot-dash model bat measures 33 1/2" long and weighs 43oz. Dating from the 1911-16 period the name "DOYLE" stamped in block lettering on knob end. Vault marked model number D17 is stamped on both the knob and barrel ends and "DOYLE" block letter stamping also appears on the back side of the barrell. Incredible usage wear is evident throughput including handle tape residue deadwood on back with vintage finish nail repairs and factory side writing which has faded from age. Remnants of the original paper shipping label remain on the barrel although it is illegible. Game bats of this quality from early 20th century players of Doyle's caliber are rarely seen and generally command the full attention of bat collectors when presented at auction.

Includes LOA from SCD Authentic and letter of provenance from the Hillerich & Bradsby Co.
