The crown jewel of the Southern Fairway Find this is one of two examples of the legendary T210 Old Mill Joe Jackson card yielded from a modest cache of scarce 8th Series cards from of the distinctive 1910 minor league tobacco issue. Jackson is pictured as a member of the New Orleans Pelicans before the start of his extraordinary and tragic baseball career. A year after this card was produced Shoeless Joe would burst on the major league scene in 1911 by belting .408 in his first full season with Cleveland. His .356 lifetime average would have automatically guaranteed him a spot in the Hall of Fame were it not for his involvement in the infamous 1919 Black Sox scandal that would usurp his legacy. A strikingly vivid black and white photographic image of Jackson centralizes the visual appeal of this heretofore-unseen treasure. Honest VG corners punctuate centering about 65/35 side to side and close to 50/50 top to bottom. A light cloud of staining from moisture surrounds the figure of Jackson on the front with just a small area of soiling present at back bottom center. A slight surface wrinkle that does not break the front surface appears at the right center area and a couple of small diagonal back creases can be seen at the back corners. Possessing visual traits surpassing its imposed technical grade this incredibly rare T210 Joe Jackson card stands as one of only three PSA 2's graded with just 2 examples rated higher amongst a sparse population of eight total examples graded by PSA.
