The Clement Brothers bakery of Rochester, New York produced two distinct varieties of inserts in 1909 and 1910. The cards from both series' are 1-1/2" x 2-3/4" and have identical backs. The cards from the 1909 release (D380-1) are found with a player photo in an oval frame; the 1910 specimens (D380) feature a black-and-white player photo surrounded by a white border. The 1910 issue included major league players in addition to the local Rochester Bronchos. Cards from either series rank among the most difficult 20th Century cards in the hobby.

Presented here is the one of only two D380 Clement Bros. Bread cards of Hal Chase ever graded by either SGC or PSA, and the highest graded example at that. Recently graded and introduced to the collecting public here for the first time, the card presents well in spite of even corner wear and a few creases. The back features darkly printed advertising not significantly affected by moderate soiling. An exciting find of a card that many advanced pre-war card collectors will be seeing for the first time. Encapsulated by SGC and SGC GD+ 2.5 (the only other example is SGC FR 1.5).
