Presented here is a silver "Physical Education" award plaque fromthe 1900 Paris Exposition Games (aka The World's Fair) which lastedfrom May 14 to October 28 and were later credited as the 2nd ModernOlympic Games following the 1896 Olympics in Athens Greece. Theorganizers so under-promoted the Olympic status of the competitions thatmany of the athletes never knew they were participating in Olympicevents.
Designed by F. Vernon the plaque is made ofsilvered-bronze andmeasures 59 mm tall by 41 mm wide by 3 mm thick weighing 74 grams. It has "EDUCATIONPHYSIQUE" and "OFFERT PAR LE MINISTRE" ("Offered by the Minsiter") on the obverse. The reverse is a victorious athlete standingtriumphantly on top of a blank podium. TheFrench Mint cornucopia symbol along with "BRONZE" is stamped on thelower side edge. It presents in VF condition some tarnishing and wear. A big bonus is the fact that it comes with its original green presentation case (EX).
