Presented here is are two special plaques fromthe 1900 Paris Exposition Games (aka The World's Fair) which lastedfrom May 14 to October 28 and were later given credit as the 2nd ModernOlympic Games following the 1896 Olympics in Athens Greece. Theorganizers so under-promoted the Olympic status of the competitions thatmany of the athletes never knew they were participating in Olympicevents.

First we have a Silver Shooting Award Plaque as referenced by "CONCOURS DE TIR VIIth CONCOURS NATIONAL" inscribed on the reverse side podium with a victorious athlete standingtriumphantly on top. The Obverse depicts Fame scattering laurel branches overthe Exposition surrounded by "PARIS 1900" "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE" and"EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE." Designed by F. Vernon the medal is made ofsilvered-bronze andmeasures 59 mm tall by 41 mm wide and 2 mm thick weighing 50 grams. TheFrench Mint cornucopia symbol along with "BRONZE" is stamped on thelower side edge. It presents EX with some tarnishing and wear.

Second is a Silver Physical Education Plaque made ofsilvered-bronze that measures 59 mm tall by 41 mm wide and 3 mm thick weighing 72 grams. A bit scarcer than its counterpart it has "EDUCATION PHYSIQUE" and "OFFERT PAR LE MINISTRE" on the obverse with a suspension hole at the top. The reverse is the same as the shooting plaque save for a blank podium at the bottom. It is also designed by F. Vernon and has the same lower side edge stamp. Comes in EX condition with some tarnishing and wear.
