Presented here is an original 1897 August Belmont Jr. (Belmont Stakes) autographed Aqueduct Racing License in mint condition. The quad-fold document has been autographed by August Belmont Jr., financier, major owner, and breeder of thoroughbred racehorses. This document grants license to the Queens County Jockey Club for running of the races, race meetings, steeplechases, and steeplechase meetings at Aqueduct Raceway located in Queens, New York. The Queens County Jockey Club opened Aqueduct just three years prior. This historic license is truly worthy of placement in the finest horseracing collection or in the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga, New York. Belmont Jr. autographed the document in bold, black fountain pen for excellent eye appeal.
