Outstanding 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter World's Champions near set (46/50) glued onto a pair of vintage album pages probably sometime in the late 1880's or early 1890's. Included in the beautiful N28 set are baseball players are 10 baseball players including 6 Hall of Famers. Players are: Cap Anson(HOF) Mike Kelly(HOF) Tim Keefe(HOF) John Montgomery Ward(HOF) John Clarkson(HOF) Charles Comiskey(HOF) Bob Caruthers Charles Bennett Joseph Mulvey and Capt. John Glasscock. All these appear to be in NM condition from the front and are located on the better condition page. Also included in this incredible set are showman Buffalo Bill Cody and famed sharpshooter Annie Oakley. They are also in very nice condition NM looking condition from the front. The incredible color imagery on these cards is still bright and fresh after all these years protected by being placed inside an album. The 11 1/2" by 16 3/4" pages each have 25 cards per page lined up neatly 3 rows across. Two cards are loose Jack Dempsey and Yank Adams. These both appear to have come loose during the deterioration of the 2nd sheet. Dempsey has excess album paper at top with a few spots of paper loss to the back. The Adams still has almost all of the back covered with excess album paper. Both pages are very brittle in nature a state common to most of the others from this vintage find.(The non-sport sets were sold earlier this year) The page with the baseball players has held up much better than the 2nd sheet which has broken apart at the lower third. Cards have come loose in the top row and a couple of other places. The missing cards are: John L. Sullivan Jake Kilrain John McMahon and M. Vignaux. The vast majority of cards present in EX-MT to NM or better from the front. The reason there were so many complete sets with so many different cards in this collection with no duplication stems the fact that the original owner a relative of the consignor worked for the company that produced them.
