1887 A16 Allen & Ginter World Champions Album features outstandig color lithography. Front cover has a smartly decorated image of period sporting equipment with images of the John H. Ward and Jack Dempsey cards. Reverse has a flower bouquet with "A & G" at the center. Inside one finds eye popping exact size images of all 50 subjects found in the N28 World Champions card issue grouped 4 or 5 to a page. 10 ball players are included - Hall of Famers Cap Anson John Clarkson Charles Comiskey Tim Keefe Mike Kelly and John Ware as well as period baseball stars Charles Bennett Parisian Bob Caruthers Captain John Glasscock and Joseph Mulvey. Wild Bill Cody and Annie Oakley are also included in the series. Intricate full color designs highlight each page to accent the images of the subjects portrayed. Pages are held together by green twine ties. The album was originally produced for collectors to glue their cards onto the decorated pages. Album measures 6" by 8" and was available by redeeming 50 coupons found one per box of Allen & Ginter cigarettes. Album cover has heavy horizontal crease near bottom with creasing and tears near twine used to hold it together. Back cover just has some corner creasing. Inside pages are in very nice condition. To get the full effect of the album many collectors untie the string and place the pages in an album. As the pages are blank on the back this is a wonderful way to enjoy the piece. All pages and covers have some corner wear. One of the most beautiful 19th Century collectibles out there!
