Awesome GD PSA 2.5 Detroit Wolverines Team Card from the extremely scarce 1886 Lorillard tobacco issue features 11 portrait pictures of members of the club with a baseball design on the front with the Wolverines full season schedule and an ad for Lorillard plug tobacco on the back. Among the players pictured are Hall of Famers Dan Brouthers Sam Thompson Ned Hanlon and Deacon White. The Wolverines would finish 2nd to Chicago in 1886 with an 87-36 record but in 1887 they would finish first in the National League and go on to beat the American Association Champion St. Louis Browns in the World Series. Player images on the card are clear and in-focus. Corners rate VG to VG-EX/EX. Front and back are both very clean. Card does have a bit of an angle cut. Creases at both the lower corners with the main reason for the grade appearing to be a somewhat heavier 2 1/4" crease along the inside lower right edge more visible from the back that does not break any of the front surface paper. Tremendous eye appeal on this vintage beauty! The only example graded by PSA in any condition.
