Interesting 1870's Stereoview of an unidentified baseball team wearing full uniforms. Stereoviews were a very important means of entertainment during the 19th Century beginning with their widespread introduction in the 1850's. When held in the viewer the double image cards created an exciting 3D effect that was very popular at the time. In some form or another this technology remained popular for over 100 years. The eight players are shown in full uniform with 3 holding bats and 1 a ball. Player images are especially sharp. They are posed standing in front of some sort of wooden structure. The 3 1/2" by 7" piece is fairly clean and displays well despite one diagonal crease on back which does not break the front surface paper. Nice piece of not just baseball but also American history.
