Military Commission signed by Victoria (1819-1901) Queen of Great Britain and Ireland as well as Empress of India. The large format document both partially printed and handwritten promotes an army member to the rank of Captain of the Third Left Dragoon and is dated February 19 1858. Queen Victoria has signed the document (8/10) in sepia ink along the top left corner with the official embossed royal seal appearing directly below her signature. The document printed on parchment is beautifully presented in an ornate and elaborate framed display along with images and a titling placard (slightly askew in frame). Victoria was the longest reigning monarch in the history of the British crown ascending to the throne in 1837 at the age of eighteen and ruling until her death in 1901. She was an extremely popular ruler especially during her final years with her social consciousness and strict morals greatly helping to restore the prestige of the Crown during that time. The document has toned with age including a few light shaded areas at the left and right sides and exhibits a few horizontal fold lines (none of which affect the signature). VG condition overall. Frame dimensions 26" by 22".
