1841 Invitation to an inauguration ball for incoming President William Henry Harrison held at the New Washington Assembly Rooms. Beautiful raised image of Harrison at top center with list of "Managers) at lower portion. All the writing etc. is raised so you can feel the letters on your fingers as you pass over. Invitation was given to Thomas C. Hempshall. Harrison the first member of the Whig party elected to the Presidency died just a month after taking the oath of office on March 4 1841. He took the oath on a cold and wet day wearing neither an overcoat nor hat and delivered the longest inaugural address in American history. He died of pneumonia on April 4 1941. 5" by 8" Invitation in very good shape for age with one 1 1/4" crease at upper left edge on front and a sliver of tape at the top back left edge. Great piece of American Presidential history.
