James Monroe was the 5th president of the United States and the last one who was one of the nation’s Founding Fathers. During his presidency, Monroe skillfully guided the country as it expanded westward. His Monroe Doctrine also made it clear to the world that the United States would oppose any further European colonization in the Americas. This document is the record of a land grant in the Cincinnati area of Ohio in 1820. Ohio had only been a state for less than two decades and was still very much the frontier. The land grant has been signed by Monroe in bold fountain pen. The document has been matted with a portrait of James Monroe and an engraved plaque listing his accomplishments. The complete framed display measures 20” x 30” and comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA.

Prior to bidding, please be aware of estimated shipping costs, especially for large or heavy lots. If you intend to pick up your items in person at the SCP Auctions office, please call us to schedule. Payment must clear prior to items being available for pick-up.
